Princess Savannah, April 2009

Made as a "big sister" quilt for 2 year old Savannah C., the daughter of my colleague Matt, who just had a new baby, Elijah, who is also getting a quilt. I had started this quilt for Savannah while visiting Albuquerque last year, buying various turquoise, pink, and purple fabrics without a plan. Lisa helped me with a pattern that would make the most of the squares of princess fabric and its coordinate, and I designed some embroidered squares that would duplicate some of the designs. I quilted with turquoise and purple lines around the blocks; pink stippling within the princess blocks, and free motions designs of crowns, flowers, hearts, and stars in yellow, with free motion swirls on the pink outside border.
