Mom's Door Quilts : April Showers, 2019

The third of the door decoration quilts for Mom at RV, except it was too big for the door! This little quilt was hung on the wall instead. This scrappy design was adapted from two free online patterns: the umbrella and rain drops came from the Hoffman pattern Umbrella by Vicki Stratton and the cloud came from the Singin' in the Rain pattern by Marsha Evans-Moore. Quilted in diagonal lines, some of which have "raindrops"; the "rain" under the clouds is done in a shiny, iridescent thread. The rainbow-like binding fabric seemed to tie the whole theme together.

As usual, all the fabric used in this quilt is from my stash. The cloud fabric is a white fleece; the periwinkle background fabric is from an old sheet; the cloud's raindrops are a fancy iridescent fabric (doubled) -- also used for dragonfly wings in the corner blocks of Sybil's Dragonfly Variations. The purple flowered fabric on the back is the remainder of one of my Constitution Village Folk Life Festival costumes.

This is my 2nd April Showers quilt -- the first April Showers quilt was made as a silent auction item for the Huntsville Botanical Garden.
