1930s Cowboy's Star : Market Place Quilt, September 2021

Someone donated a stained quilt top to the Market Place thrift store. The design is called "Cowboy's Star," and consists of hand-pieced stars appliqued to muslin squares, then machine-pieced with light blue sashing and bright yellow cornerstones. Each of the stars still has its (white) hand-applique, but it has also been secured with black machine-zigzag stitching. This might be an old top, but was not well or acurately made. I finished it by backing it with an old sheet (also from the thrift store), quilted it in a simple cross-hatch design, and bound it with a 1930s reproduction print. The stains are mostly gone.
