Hideous Harmony, Sept - Dec 2008

After seeing a friend's One Block Wonder quilt made in a class at our local quilt shop, I was curious to see how difficult it was. I bought the book and, using some very cheap ($2.00/yd) and ugly fabric which I already owned, I made this quilt. The fabric is lined up on the repeat in 6 layers, then cut into stacks of identical triangles. You sew the triangles together to make half-hexagons. You arrange the matching hexagons (I had to do this in the hangar), then sew the half-hexagons in strips, then sew the strips together. It is a wonder that it turned out so nicely! I made a little fabric envelope on the back to keep a square of the original print.
