Wedding Quilt for Andrew and Whitney, Sept. 2016

I started some scrap blocks in 2013, inspired by Amanda Jean Nyberg and Cheryl Arkison's quilt "Missing U" in the book Sunday Morning Quilts. With more and more scraps, it seemed a good idea to keep making these blocks in any spare time I had. When we got the invitation to Andrew and Whitney's wedding, I thought these blocks might make a good present. Andrew went to Haiti with Mike on a couple of Episcopal medical missions. Andrew and Whitney both work at Camp McDowell where the wedding was held. The scrappy hearts got incorporated since I already had some of those as well. Rather than the mixed up colors of the original quilt design, I looked at doing a rainbow type layout Because of the recyling scrappy nature of this design I though they might make a good wedding quilt for committed environmentalists like Andrew and Whitney who work at Camp McDowell.

The label is attached at the bottom right. I sorted through a lot of my embroidery file designs to try to find things that seemed close to the illustrations on their wedding invitation.

Quilted in straight lines with matching colors of thread, except in "heart" portions of blocks where white background and hearts have free motion quilting.
