Overcaffinated
Oct. 21, 2010

My stitch group, The Quilt Scrum, put together different baskets of fabric to donate to the HQH guild auction in October 2010. We made a tea basket that had a variety of tea-themed fabrics, plus patchwork patterned teacups, a honey pot, and some actual boxes of tea. A second basket had an Asian theme, and another had coffee-theme fabrics and a reconditioned espresso maker. To accompany the Coffee basket and its 5 yards of assorted fabric, I designed this wall hanging in Photoshop, and made it in coffee fabrics, embroidered blocks, and fused sheer applique.

The machine applique coffee cups on the left were made from a free downloaded pattern; I had embroidered a couple of them several years ago and never did anything with them. The big coffee cup and the "Coffee" letters were fused and appliqued on a layered, fused background, just as in Something In the Water.
