Great Designs : July-Nov. 2011

My great nieces and great nephew worked with me to design their own quilts. I brought some plain, gridded white fabric and bags of large, medium, and small squares and rectangles. The kids each selected 5 large squares, 10 medium squares, and a variety of other smaller squares and rectangles, then used a washable glue stick to adhere the squares to the gridded background.
I took careful photos of the completed quilt centers, let the glue dry, then folded the fabric panels up. I sewed around the glued down blocks, then added the various borders (the kids described what they'd like: horses, vehicles, butterflies), then the quilts were sandwiched and quilted.
