Folk Art Star : Alzheimer's Memory Walk, Sept. 27, 2008

Lynn B., one of my aerobic dance instructors, asked if I would do a quilt for the Alzheimer Memory Walk. It turned out that it was given away in a drawing this year rather than auctioned off as in previous years.

I took Barbara B.'s 3-hour "Southern Star" class to make this queen-sized quilt from fabrics I already had (except for the back). The construction was more difficult because I used 3 directional fabrics.

Simple straight lines in varigated thread were used for most of the quilting. I did free-motion leaves in the light colored print bands at the top and bottom, and the navy-flowered border was done in swirls.
