Alex's Travels : a quilt for Alex Basa, Apr 2006 - Aug 2007

Alex B., a colleague at Sirsi and world traveler, bought his first house in April 2006. When I offered to make him a quilt, we worked together to select a number of different flags, landmarks, and animals from a clip art book. The flags are all from countries Alex has lived in or visited; the scenes and symbols are supposed to be representative of his travels as well, with the 4 quarters of the quilt divided into North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Although I wasn't always able to create an embroidery design for all of selections, I got plenty of experience using the 3D (and later) 4D digitizing and stich creation software.

The quilt pattern is "Trip Around the World" and was machine-pieced from a variety of ethnic-looking fabrics: Polynesian, African, and Native American, as well as fabrics with interest colors and textures.
